WISE Fund: Women in Sport Encouragement Fund provided by CAAWS with support from Sport Canada.
Age Friendly Communities Program NS Department of Seniors: http://www.gov.ns.ca/seniors/agefriendlyComm.asp The program assists municipalities in creating or adapting structures and services that are accessible and inclusive of seniors with varying needs and capacities in order to ensure they are able to lead healthy, active lives. Matching funds of up to $5,000.
Community Development Fund Community Health Boards, CDHA: http://www.communityhealthboards.ns.ca/Generic.aspx?portalName=Community+Health+Boards&PAGE=CDHAThese grants support unique solutions to local needs. They help non-profit groups and organizations bring to life locally designed projects and programs that promote and support healthy living and community wellness. Interested groups should contact local Community Health Boards for grant applications and more information on how to apply for Wellness Funds.
HRM Community Grants Program http://www.myhrm.ca/ToolKit/HRMCommunityGrants.php If you are a registered, non-profit organization or a federally registered charity located within HRM, you could be eligible for a one-time grant through HRM’s Community Grants Program. The program helps to create or maintain healthy, safe and cultural communities for residents. The focus of the program is to provide support to local volunteers and to help them develop their programs. Grants usually range from $1,000 – $5,000. The Program opens in January of each year with a deadline for applications of March 31st.
IWK Community Grants Program http://www.iwk.nshealth.ca/index.cfm?objectid=B62F519F-FA6E-3CCB-51ADA28C6514E6A0 Contributes to projects dedicated to promoting wellness and healthy living among women, children and youth in our communities.
Lighthouse Grant Program, NS Department of Justice http://www.gov.ns.ca/just/prevention/lighthouse_grants.asp The Lighthouses Program is a community crime prevention and reduction investment initiative, which is intended to support community crime prevention programs. Organizations that provide recreational, educational, cultural, life-skills, and/or after-school programming for youth throughout Nova Scotia are eligible to apply for a $12,000 grant from the Department of Justice.
New Horizons for Seniors Program, HRSDC http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/community_partnerships/seniors/index.shtml By providing funding to non-profit and other organizations, the New Horizons for Seniors Program helps to ensure that seniors can benefit from, and contribute to, the quality of life in their communities, through active living and participation in social activities. There are three kinds of funding: Community Participation and Leadership, Capital Assistance, and Elder Abuse Awareness.

Positive Aging Fund, NS Department of Seniors http://www.gov.ns.ca/seniors/positiveagingfund.asp The fund assists non-profit community organizations in creating projects that advance the goals and actions outlined in Nova Scotia’s Strategy for Positive Aging, with a focus on health, well-being and community participation of Nova Scotia seniors. Grants up to $10,000.
